let me explain something to you. in the environment you currently live in, i.e. high school, you have a hierarchy and a certain social order. therefore, if someone is nice to someone else they must be "sucking up" or if someone doesnt respond to an insult with another insult they must be a :"pussy"..
but what you have to realize is that highschool teaches you how to be an asshole. another thing you have to realize is that most people in highschool don't really like themselves, are not comfortable with themselves and therefore dont really understand how to act or how to treat other people. they cover up their insecurities by acting tough or insulting other people.
when you get out of highschool, it takes years to unlearn the assholic mentality that highschool causes you to have. years. but, after a time, you come to realize, if you're smart, that being nice to someone, or not responding to someone's insult, does not mean that you are a pussy or that you are sucking up. it means that you are secure enough in your own self to not give a shit if some idiot insults you and it means that you like yourself enough to be nice to people. being nice to someone doesnt mean you feel inferior to them, and being nice in general doesnt mean you are insecure about yourself. in fact its just the opposite. got it?
